Santa, baby....

Do we really know what we want out of life? I mean really? What does a woman really want? Truthfully, most of them want things. They want the flowers and candy and jewelry and presents. They want a man of material substance. And you men know it. That's the type the men want and chase. They love to have their heads displayed on pickets after being completely used until there was nothing more to squeeze from their wallets.

The funny thing is, though: That's precisely the type that most men seem to grab hold of. Let a man meet a simple, girl-next-door type and he's bound to offer her the typical lines like: "You're so amazing. Not like other women. You're so special. You understand me. Let's just be friends."

What the hell are they thinking? What's really important? It sure as hell isn't stuff. Do these idiots really think that makeup and expensive purses and good manicures are the be all and end all of a good woman? Be serious. Think about it: She's going to be eighty someday. And what will you have? You'll have a bitter old hag who cries about the bad plastic surgery lines and the lost diamond earrings she values more than your wedding pictures.

What about fun? What about playfully bickering over the Sunday paper? Or candle-lit food-fights? Have you laughed lately?

Maybe what makes a good friend is exactly what you should be looking for.

Puddle Of Mudd
Blurry

Everything's so blurry
and everyone's so fake
and everybody's empty
and everything is so messed up
pre-occupied without you
I cannot live at all
My whole world surrounds you
I stumble then I crawl

You could be my someone
you could be my scene
you know that I'll protect you
from all of the obscene
I wonder what your doing
imagine where you are
there's oceans in between us
but that's not very far

Can you take it all away
can you take it all away
well ya shoved it in my face
this pain you gave to me
Can you take it all away
can you take it all away
well ya shoved it my face

Everyone is changing
there's no one left that's real
to make up your own ending
and let me know just how you feel
cause I am lost without you
I cannot live at all
my whole world surrounds you
I stumble then I crawl

You could be my someone
you could be my scene
you know that I will save you
from all of the unclean
I wonder what your doing
I wonder where you are
There's oceans in between us
but that's not very far

Can you take it all away
can you take it all away
well ya shoved it in my face
this pain you gave to me
Can you take it all away
can you take it all away
well ya shoved it my face

Nobody told me what you thought
nobody told me what to say
everyone showed you where to turn
told you when to runaway
nobody told you where to hide
nobody told you what to say
everyone showed you where to turn
showed you when to runaway

Can you take it all away
can you take it all away
well ya shoved it in my face
this pain you gave to me
Can you take it all away
can you take it all away
well ya shoved it my face

This pain you give to me

you take it all
you take it all away...
explain again to me
you take it all away
explain again to me
take it all away
explain again

Wow. Harsh. As always, I have to re-read your posts three times just to scratch the surface...and I quote, 'most women want things'. Well, I guess you feel that the majority of women out there (are not as good a person as you, and) are quite materialistic (but not you, of course). Rather than delve into if you are or aren't the very woman you chastize, I'll simply say that the great majority of women out there are NOT materialistic. Simple men, however, try and use that very approach when dealing with women... A nice shiny ring will get that fuzzy-feeling as well as a candle-lit dinner...The ring takes less effort. So, again, it isn't 'the type that most men seem to grab hold of', but a small fraction of women who want 'things', and men who want 'no effort'.

Still, outside of your numbers, you're absolutely right. What about fun? What about being best-friends? That is the foundation that should make a relationship work. But don't forget, in order to make that best-friend, you have to BE the best-friend.

Nice to see you back and posting. Merry Christmas, Shanna. Hopefully, you'll read deeply into this as I have into yours, and you may find the gift therein. And all good gifts are sent anonymously... :)

Granted, it was harsh. It was an answer to the countless brush-offs softened with flattery. It was a heat of the moment post. You are correct in that the numbers are rather askew. A few bad apples and all....

Sometimes the easy way is the path more often chosen. Simply because it IS easy. And I'm not saying I'm not a bit frivolous. Everyone is to some degree. I'm just not into "stuff". I've never had nor have I been exposed to much "stuff", so I'm not very well-versed in the concept of gaining "stuff".

The best relationships come from strong friendships. Friendship in itself is not the issue. Rather, it is being relegated to simply friend and nothing more that puts me off.

As far as the depth of understanding.....I'm only hoping I'm reading into your comments accurately.
